3 Online Parenting Courses to Help You Throughout the Years

My husband and I have often said that you should have to do some kind of course before becoming a parent to help prepare you for the many challenges to come during the years of parenthood. There’s no mandatory course for parents-to-be and babies don’t come with a manual, unfortunately! Other than ante-natal classes, parents usually need to acquire parenting skills, access information and support themselves through first-hand experience, peers, or parenting books.
Even if you’ve always wanted to be a parent and you’ve read lots of parenting books before having kids, you’ll never really know what it’s like until you are a parent yourself and what your children are like. Our three are all very different from each other and we’ve had very different parenting challenges with them so far.
I’ve recently had a look at three online courses for parents and have gathered them in this blog post here for you to check out if you too are looking for some guidance.
They are all courses that you can do online on your computer, smartphone, or tablet at your own pace when you have time – perfect for busy parents!
- The Early Years Pack £39
This course is the fifth expert-led course by The Positive Birth Company. Their other courses are about Pregnancy, Hypnobirthing, Postpartum and TTC (Trying to Conceive). The new Early Years Pack is an online course that supports parents from the older baby years, through toddlerhood to the pre-school years. The programme includes on-demand video workshops, as well as PDF guides and booklets.
The Early Years Pack empowers parents with easily accessible evidence-based advice from top qualified professionals and thought leaders in the parenting sector. The course teaches you lots of great things about this often-challenging part of parenthood. There are extensive sections about Health (health checks, teething, vaccinations, development, etc), essential First Aid information, Sleep (sleep science, routines and more), Weaning, Potty Training, Child Development and Parental Mental Health. There’s even a children’s yoga workshop!
I’m going through this part of motherhood for the third time at the moment and am enjoying working through this course. It’s great for new parents especially but also useful for parents who have already had kids too. You can always learn more new things and improve the way you do things. I really appreciate the parental mental health section – this is such an important topic.
- The Younger Years Course £79.99
The Younger Years course from Toddlers Teens And Between (TTAB) is a course for parents of babies, toddlers, and early years children (age group 0-6) with lots of helpful video content to help parents support their child’s emotional well-being, behaviour, and mental health. It’s an easy-to-follow course run by the friendly team that is Gemma Arnold and Sophia Ziff. The duo has over 16 years combined primary and secondary school teaching experience working with children and teenagers and they are both mums with busy lives too.
The course covers lots of different topics and includes lots of useful advice for parents that will help them through these often challenging parenting years. TTAB also offers 1-1 troubleshooting guidance calls for parents who are dealing with issues related to their child’s well-being, mental health, or behaviour.
Oh, and don’t miss TTAB’s content over on Instagram for inspiration.
- The Emotional Toolkit for Kids £99
This course is designed for children aged 7-12 and you can work alongside your child as they do the course to offer guidance, if needed. Kids have been through a lot over the past few years, and I think it’s been particularly difficult for this age group. Mental health for kids is more important now than ever and we need to do what we can to support our children. I love the concept of this self-paced online course that equips children with the tools they need to manage their thoughts and feelings, while also building confidence and resilience.
The course is by Inspired Creators which offers online personal development courses and classes for children. The Emotional Toolkit for Kids is a new course that offers a wide variety of tools such as breathing exercises, working on acupressure points, journaling and creative activities, meditation and much more. The course includes over 20 videos, a 50-page workbook and 10 audio meditations.
I’ve had a look at the materials and love how these important topics have been covered and how the materials have been created to suit children of this age group. I am planning to do this course with my eldest over the summer and am looking forward to using the course to provide her with these amazing tools to help her build her inner strength, feel happy and be ready for any challenges that life might bring.
I have been given access to these courses. As always, all thoughts and opinions are my own.
