6 Things That You Shouldn’t Put In The Oven

When it comes to cooking, the oven is a great tool to use. However, there are some things that you should never put in the oven. If you want to avoid disaster in your kitchen, then make sure you avoid putting these six things in the oven!

Dry Toothpicks

Hardwood picks are used for various types of meals and can be used when baking. However, when you’re putting a toothpick in the oven, make sure to soak it in water for at least 30 minutes before you bake with it. Ignoring this step can cause the dry toothpick to get stuck to your food.

Always be sure to do this whenever doing something with hardwood picks. It’ll make the cooking process much easier and you’ll be able to avoid any unwanted accidents.

Dry toothpicks can cause you a problem and take away the enjoyment from your meal, which is why it’s important that you soak them in water before using them.

6 Things That You Shouldn't Put In The Oven

Paper Products

There are various types of paper used for cooking, and most of them should not be put in the oven. The paper will ignite and could potentially cause a fire. There are some exceptions, such as cooking paper, which is made specifically for high-heat cooking. If you’re not sure whether or not a paper product is safe to use in the oven, it’s best to avoid it altogether. Here are six types of paper that you should never put in the oven:

  • wax paper
  • parchment paper
  • grease-proof paper
  • tissue paper
  • napkins
  • serviettes/paper towels

The bottom line: avoid using any type of paper other than cooking paper in the oven. It’s just not worth the risk! They pose a fire hazard and can easily be replaced with a safer alternative. Stay safe in the kitchen and don’t take any chances!

However, cooking paper is made specifically for high-heat cooking and is safe to use in the oven. If you’re not sure whether or not a paper product is safe to use in the oven, it’s best to avoid it altogether.

Plastic

Plastic quickly melts at high temperatures and can release harmful toxins when it does. It’s important to avoid putting plastic in the oven, as this could cause a fire and release dangerous toxins into your home.

When melted plastic comes into contact with food, it can also contaminate your meal with harmful chemicals. For these reasons, it’s best to avoid using plastic in the oven altogether. If you must use plastic containers for cooking, make sure they are specifically made for oven use and that they are labeled as “oven-safe.”

If you’re not sure whether or not a container is safe to use in the oven, err on the side of caution and don’t put it in! There are plenty of other safe cooking vessels out there, so there’s no need to take the risk.

Damaged Glassware

If you put damaged glassware in the oven, it can shatter and spread glass shards throughout your oven. This could cause a fire and/or serious injury.

Always handle damaged glassware with caution to avoid any potential injuries. If you’re not sure if a piece of glassware is damaged, don’t use it – especially around heat. Instead, recycle it or dispose of it properly.

When baking, always use oven-safe dishes and bakeware. That way, you’ll never have to worry about damaging them or causing a dangerous situation. Stay safe in the kitchen, only use oven-safe containers!

Unprotected Food

Ovens tend to heat up to high temperatures, and unprotected food can easily become contaminated. This means that if you’re not careful, you could end up with a nasty stomach bug. There are some types of food that are particularly vulnerable to being cooked in an oven. For example, dishes containing mayonnaise or eggs.

So, what should you avoid cooking in the oven? Unprotected food is the answer. Dishes such as Caesar salads, macaroni, cheese, quiches, and frittatas all contain ingredients that can be compromised by high temperatures. If you’re unsure about whether a dish is safe to cook in the oven, it’s best to err on the side of caution and avoid it altogether.

Wet Or Damp Towels

Never play around with wet or damp towels and the oven together. Towels that are wet or damp can result in a fire if you try to put them in the oven. This is because the moisture will react with the heat from the oven and create sparks that could easily ignite something else in the oven, like a pan of cooking oil, and quickly turn into a dangerous kitchen fire. So, don’t take any chances, but rather keep your wet and damp towels far away from the oven!

Ovens are a great appliance for preparing food, but you do need to be careful. Never put in dry toothpicks or any kind of paper. Make sure that the dish you use isn’t plastic, and if it’s glass, that it isn’t damaged anywhere. Always protect the food you’re putting into the oven, and never use damp or wet towels when using it. Stay safe!
