A Spring/Summer Outfit Idea Suitable for Different Occasions

As a work at home mum of two little ones, it’s easy to choose clothes that are more practical than fun but I’m trying to make an effort to include some more interesting and dressier pieces too.

I’m working with Simply Be and have put together an outfit that I think works well when you want to be comfortable but feel slightly dressed up too. The Button Front Denim Midi Skirt is relaxed and a great length and fit when you’re playing with kids and need to be able to move around. It’s got an elasticated waistband at the back to ensure comfort which is great. I’m wearing a size 10 which was slightly too large for my waist but I just adjusted with a safety pin and now it’s perfect. It’s made from cotton and is machine washable — a must!

The clothes you wear can often influence how you feel and how you carry yourself. The right denim-skirt can help you feel confident in any situation. Denim is also a fun all-weather fabric available in many washes and colours — you do not have to stick to standard blue. The lengths of denim skirts can also vary greatly, as can how they fit your body. You can find A-line skirts that are fun and comfortable or shape-fitting skirts that show off your figure. Denim skirts also have not been out of style since they first became popular in the 1960s. Therefore, when you add them to your wardrobe, you can rely on them to stand the test of time. That cannot be said for a lot of other clothing that has gone in and out of fashion over the years.

Denim skirts feel very summery to me and are easy to match with a blouse or a simple t-shirt depending on what you’re up to. I chose the Stripe Shell Top With Tape Detail as I love the stripes of different thicknesses and colours and the red details on the shoulders. The style feels a bit nautical or French — perfect for summer.

The top is a polyester material that is very light and comfortable and feels more dressy than a cotton t-shirt. You can wear it loose to show off the boxy shape of the top or tuck it into a skirt or trousers to show off your waist. It’s slightly longer at the back which is always practical. It’s also machine washable. I’m wearing a Size 10 which fits me perfectly.

The shoes! These Clarks Griffin Mia shoes are like no other shoes I have and I love them. They are made of patent coated leather and have cushioned layers underfoot to ensure comfort. You can take the fringes off to create a different look which makes them very versatile.

I love the shiny finish and the cute buckles! They look great but are also so comfortable to wear. I wore them all day on Saturday and they did not hurt my feet like new shoes usually do. Perfect! I’ll be wearing these loads for different occasions. They can be dressed up or down very easily.
