Most people who are looking for a zero waste alternative to conventional shampoo turn to solid shampoo bars which work well for some, but not for all. Some miss the creamy formula and luxurious lather that you get from a liquid shampoo. Don’t worry though, you can have it all with Ben & Anna Shampoo Flakes.

Ben & Anna Shampoo Flakes are an excellent choice if you’re trying to reduce your plastic use and your home’s waste. They come in a paper sachet, and you mix the flakes with warm water at home to create your own shampoo. Simply add the flakes to a dispenser (Ben & Anna sell a perfect one), add warm water according to the instructions, shake, wait 20 minutes, and then your liquid zero waste shampoo is ready.

The shower flakes are sold in packs of two sachets and are currently available in two scents – Aloe Vera and Sanddorn (Sea Buckthorn). I’ve been testing the Sanddorn one and it’s lovely! Sea Buckthorn is rich in Vitamin C which is great for hair strength and hair protection. The formula is ideal for anyone who’s looking to soothe their scalp and to reduce hair loss too as Sea Buckthorn also has healing properties that can help regenerate and soothe the scalp. The scent is fresh and invigorating too.

The formula is very creamy and creates a great lather. You can wash your hair and still have plenty of bubbles left to wash your body with if you want to, but Ben & Anna also make Shower Gel flakes.
