Blade & Rose Leggings Review
Blade & Rose is Britain’s leading children’s clothing brand specialising in trendsetting leggings featuring stylish and quirky designs on the bottom plus matching accessories. The company was founded by entrepreneurial mother of two Amanda Peffer during her maternity leave and the names Blade and Rose are her children’s middle names.
The idea of the fun designs on the bum came from her own daughter as her leggings always ended up being on show and Amanda kept pulling her dress down. She decided to embrace the baby bottom sticking out and came up with the concept.
Blade & Rose is not just about cute, though. A huge part of the development was to ensure the fabrics were high quality and durable, that the leggings were comfortable and functional to wear, soft and kind on children’s skin and that they washed well.
The first collection sold out quickly and now the brand is hugely popular in the UK and the rest of the world and they’ve expanded their product range by adding hats, tops, socks, tights and bibs that match the styles of the leggings.
The Hedgehog design here is part of the new Autumn/Winter collection and the cupcake one is from a previous collection. There are lots of quirky designs to choose from including lots of unisex options and girly ones. I love unisex children’s clothes but love these Cupcake leggings too, especially because “cake” is one of my toddler girl’s favourite words. I love the autumnal colours of the Hedgehog design and think they look lovely together. Orange and brown gives a retro feel that I really like.
Some of my other favourite designs from the website include the Babushka Doll, Strawberry, H.R.H. and, of course, the Christmas Pudding one.
I love the great details! The design on the bum is the same kind of material as the rest of the leggings and not just a print. The seams are sewn nicely and the logo on the waistband looks cool and is stitched in. The bottoms of the leggings are slightly flared which I love. The cupcake design is scalloped, too.
The sizes available are 0-6 months, 6-12 months, 1-2 years and 3-4 years. My daughter is 20 months old and is wearing the 1-2 years size. She is slim and has relatively short legs and usually wears 12-18 months trousers and leggings. The Blade & Rose leggings fit her perfectly now. They are the right length and the stretchy knit ensures the fit is right. They get slightly smaller in the wash but since they’re stretchy you can just pull them back to their original size. The colours stay lovely and vibrant and do not fade in the wash.
One of the most important things when I choose clothes for my daughter is that they’re comfortable. Blade & Rose leggings fit really nicely, are very soft and seem really easy to move around and play in. Since they are slim fitting, they stay on which is great because not all baby trousers do when you have a slim child. The thicker material is especially perfect for the colder months and will help keep my daughter nice and warm more efficiently than regular leggings.
We really love these funky and comfortable designs! Buy them from the Blade & Rose website where you can also search for local stockists. RRP is £10 each but you can also snap up some sale bargains from the online shop. You can also find Blade & Rose on Amazon.co.uk.
We were sent these two pairs of leggings for this review. As always, all my reviews are 100% honest and all thoughts and opinions are my own.
