In my opinion, there should always be books under the Christmas tree for everyone. Books make great gifts and there are so many lovely new releases to enjoy every year.

If you’re looking for some new brilliant books for Christmas this year, read on as I share some of my favourites for the whole family.

• An Anthology of Aquatic Life & The Secret World of Plants

Let’s start this book gift guide with these beauties from DK Books. DK Books has a lovely range of books like these – big hardback books full of fascinating information, stunning photography and illustrations. The books even have golden edge gilding, making them look extra special!

These books are ideal for curious children but also fun for grown ups to read and learn from. My eldest daughter, nearly 9 years old, is obsessed with these books. She loves learning about nature and science so these books are perfect for her. Let’s have a closer look at these two books.

An Anthology of Aquatic Life by Sam Hume, from the DK Children’s Anthologies series, is all about our amazing underwater world. This stunning ocean encyclopedia is packed with information for young, curious readers to explore – facts, stories and myths behind their favourite sea-life creatures.

We look at the deep oceans and the smaller waters of our world and meet lots of interesting animals and plants. Everything is accompanied by gorgeous illustrations and detailed photography.

It’s a beautiful book, inside and out. A great book for the whole family to enjoy and treasure!

The Secret World of Plants by Ben Hoare, from the DK Treasures series, is a colourful and brilliant book about our planet’s fascinating flora! It’s packed with facts and stories from our kingdom of plants. Learn about more than 100 remarkable flowers, trees, and seeds in this stunning book.

The book explores the essentials of plant science – photosynthesis, pollination, and germination, as well as lots of weird and wonderful facts about some remarkable plant species from around our world. The book includes spectacular photography and illustrations to show the plants in detail.

• The Science of the Earth

Next up, another beautiful book about our world, The Science of the Earth: The Secrets of Our Planet Revealed by DK Books. This is an elegant and captivating book that both older children and adults can read and enjoy learning from.

The book is informative and visually impressive with its large, detailed photographs. We are taken on a journey from our planet’s inner core, through to the Earth’s surface and all the way up to the top of the atmosphere and learn lots of interesting facts on each page.

It’s such a gorgeous and fascinating book! A great gift for anyone who is curious and loves to learn about our world. The book also has a foreword by Chris Packham.

• Build Your Own LEGO Escape Room & The LEGO Ideas Book New Edition

We’re a family of Lego lovers so no celebration is complete without some kind of Lego gift. Lego and books are two of our favourite things so we love finding new Lego books from DK Books to inspire new builds and new ways to play.

This new Build Your Own LEGO Escape Room book is very cool and exciting! The book includes 49 Lego bricks and a sticker sheet to get you started. You can add these to your Lego collection to build lots of thrilling builds.

With this book, you choose to follow one of three themed escape rooms: Egyptian Quest, Space Mission, and Safari Adventure. Next, The LEGO Ideas Book New Edition, which is the brand-new edition of the best-selling Lego book of all time! The new book includes hundreds of all-new models to build at home.

It’s packed of fun and colourful ideas, as well as tips and tricks for how to be a better builder. We build Lego a lot in our house but there are always news things to learn, and this book is a great way to find inspiration for new builds and creations. I especially love the idea of building your own family and creating micro builds as you can see above. The LEGO Ideas Book is an excellent book that the whole family can enjoy!

• Supertato: Presents Jack and the Beanstalk

The Supertato books by Sue Hendra and Paul Linnet are so loved by children! They’re fun to read and always full of excitement. You might have seen that there’s now a Supertato CBeebies TV show and there’s also a brand new book in the series – Supertato: Presents Jack and the Beanstalk.

This new book is the perfect festive treat for Supertato fans this Christmas! It’s showtime in the supermarket and Supertato and the veggies are putting on their very own production of Jack and the Beanstalk. Of course, the Evil Pea features too!

Not only is this book a fun gift for little ones, but it’s also a gift that gives. For someone who loves travelling to the sunny Mediterranean, gift them this stunning book. The Mediterranean Home, recently published by gestalten, is a beautiful book about residential architecture and interior design in the Mediterranean.
