Casdon Supermarket Till and Pick & Mix Sweet Shop Review
|Casdon Supermarket Till and Pick & Mix Sweet Shop Review
Children love playing shop! It used to be one of my favourite things to play when I was a child and now I love joining in when my daughters are playing shop.
Casdon is a toy brand that’s been around since 1946 and the brand’s ethos has always been to create top quality playthings at an affordable price and to provide toys that are fun but also help children to discover, learn and develop as they play.
Playing shops is not just fun but it’s also a great way to help develop communication skills and maths skills plus the role-play aspect helps develop important social skills too.
The Casdon Shopping Collection includes two popular sets to inspire the next generation of shopkeepers – the Supermarket Till and the best-selling Pick & Mix Sweet Shop. My children were happy to test these toys! Let’s have a closer look…
First up – the colourful Supermarket Till which is my 5-year-old’s new favourite toy. It’s a great till that includes a working calculator and a microphone to make important customer announcements – the latter is a very noisy feature that my youngest two absolutely love playing with.
The till also has a scanner, a chip and pin machine with a payment card and a cash drawer with coins and bank notes.
We love that this set also includes a selection of play food items from well-known brands. You’ll find Baxters Soups, Hovis bread, Birdseye Birdseye Chicken Fillets and Chicken Curry and an Arctic Roll as well as milk, a lemon and a carrot. We have plenty of toy food at home as it’s my childhood passion that I’ve passed onto my kids but we didn’t have many packaged items so it’s nice to have these new additions for when we play shop.
The Casdon Supermarket Till has an RRP of £20, is suitable for children from 3 years plus and is available from Selfridges & Co, Toymaster, Very and Amazon.co.uk among other retailers. A small amount of assembling is needed.
Next up – the Pick & Mix Sweet shop from Casdon which is great fun for kids who love sweets (which is nearly all kids, I’m sure!).
This set is a dream come true for children as they get to set up their own sweet shop. If you’re the shop keeper, you can of course enjoy both selling and tasting the sweets…
The set needs a bit of assembling before you can get started but this is something that my children enjoy too – so much that they take it apart and build it again when they want to play again.
The Pick & Mix Sweet shop features a wonderful display counter with divided sections to put different sweets, two sweet jars, holes for lollipops, working scales and a scoop to pick up sweets with.
It also has a cash drawer with coins and bank notes that are included in the set. Most importantly, the set comes with sweets! A large selection of sweets and lollipops are included so that you can get started and open the shop straight away.
When you run out of sweets, you can add your own favourites of course and keep playing shop.
The Casdon Pick & Mix Sweet shop is a fun toy for role-play and learning essential skills like counting and weighing – all while enjoying a treat. It’s got an RRP of £12, is suitable from 3 years onwards and is available from Argos, Very, Smyths, Selfridges & Co and Amazon.co.uk among other retailers.
These sets were kindly sent to us for review. As always, all my reviews are 100% honest and all thoughts and opions are my own.
My girls both had something very similar to the till when they were little and my eldest had the sweet shop. They always had fantastic fun with them. x
Such a classic toy! :)
