Childs Farm Biodegradable Wipes Review | Grapefruit & Tea Tree
Baby wipes of some kind are essential when you have a baby or a toddler. The best would of course be if we could all use reusable wipes but they’re not always practical and biodegradable ones are definitely the second-best option and brilliant when you’re out and about.
I use a mix of baby wipes on my girls — both regular “disposable” ones and cloth ones depending on what I’m cleaning up and where we are. Since starting to use cloth nappies, I’m more aware of how bad regular wipes are for the environment and I try to limit the use of them.
I’m really pleased that Childs Farm makes a range of biodegradable wipes that are kind to the planet and kind to your baby’s skin. They are suitable from newborns and onwards and dermatologist and paediatrician approved as suitable for sensitive and eczema prone skin. They’re made with over 99% naturally derived ingredients which is great!
They come in two options — unscented sensitive ones and the grapefruit & organic tea tree oil ones that we have. They are available in travel packs of 20 (RRP £1.49) and larger packs of 64 (RRP £2.49).
Each pack has a sticker type opening that you lift when you need a wipe and the place back over the opening to reseal the packaging. These don’t always stay in place but a good trick is to simply store your pack upside down to keep the opening sealed and your wipes wet.
I love the scent of the grapefruit & organic tea tree oil! I usually buy unscented wipes but this scent is gorgeous and because it’s all natural, it works well on my toddler’s skin and doesn’t cause any irritation. I use them at nappy changing time and on her face/hands if messy after a snack when we’re out.
I expected the wipes to not be as strong as regular wipes since they’re biodegradable but I was completely wrong. They’re nice and thick and very strong indeed. They have a nice wetness and they glide nicely and gently over my toddler’s skin without dragging.
I also find that I need to use less of these wipes at each nappy change as they’re simply better and have a better texture and moisture than other wipes I buy. Instead of using two wipes after a wet nappy, I can easily get away with using just one which makes the value quite good and the price difference between these wipes and regular wipes very small.
