Cuddledry’s SPF 50+ Poncho Towel Review – Keep Kids Safe in the Sun
Sunshine and summer is just around the corner and with that comes the need to protect ourselves and our little ones from the sun.
We are a family with fair skin, reddish or blonde hair and even a history of skin cancer so it’s extremely important for us to protect the children’s (and our own) skin really well.
We always use high factor sun creams of good quality, sun hats, UV-suits at the beach and around the pool and long sleeved and long legged thin white clothing for even more coverage. We usually avoid being out in the midday sun (11-15) and if we do spend time outside then in the summer, you’ll usually find us under a parasol.
Every little helps and that’s why I’m really excited about the Cuddledry SPF50+ Poncho Towel. It makes a great addition to our sun protection routine and is ideal for when you’ve been swimming and have taken the UV-suits off and are exposed again.
This amazing towel is the first of its kind here in the UK. It features patented RayosanTM technology that deflects harmful UVA and UVB rays like a mirror thus protecting children’s delicate skin from sun damage.
“This remarkable technology comes from Australia, where extensive research has been done on the dangers of skin cancer. Given climbing annual temperatures, we wanted to bring the same protection to the UK”
— Helen Wooldridge, co-founder of Cuddledry
The SPF50+ Poncho Towel is made from a blend of supersoft and hygienic bamboo and lovely cotton which is Cuddledry’s signature towel blend. It has poppers under the arms to create loose sleeves to keep the poncho in place when moving around. It also has a generously sized hood to keep the head protected. It’s fluffy, soft and absorbent and these qualities last wash after wash.
I love the bright turquoise colour — it instantly makes me think of the ocean and pools when you’re on holiday. It’s got a darker trim too and decorative sea creatures that kids love.
Kids always hate getting dried and taken away from the fun — this towel is easy to throw on and then you can let them play a bit more until it’s time to get dressed or go back in the water.
Of course, it doesn’t replace other sun protection like creams but it adds another layer of protection and helps me keep the kids safe in the sun.
I keep forgetting that my eldest is not a toddler anymore and the towel is actually a bit small for her. Its intended age group is 1-3 year and she turned three in January. It doesn’t cover her lower body — she is getting quite tall now — but it will be great on our baby girl this summer when she will be one. Time flies!
I would love to see the Cuddledry SPF50+ Poncho Towel available in larger sizes for older kids — and adults too!
