GPS trackers have become really popular recently. They are little gadgets that let you keep track of where something or someone is – as long as the tracker is charged and turned on and in an area with signal. You can use trackers for lots of different things which we’ll explore in this blog post.

This is our first experience using a tracker and we opted for the PAJ GPS ALLROUND Finder 4G. The PAJ GPS ALLROUND Finder 4G comes beautifully packaged in this box with a charger (cable and wall plug adapter), a SIM card that is already inserted into your device and not replaceable, instructions and information about the PAJ GPS Finder Portal. The plug is a European plug so you can only use here in the UK with a travel adapter or simply use the cable with a different wall plug if you have a suitable one. You also get a little leather-look storage bag to protect your tracker.

The box contains contains everything you need to get started. You can register your finder and find the instructions for setting it up by following the QR code on the Quickstart paper.

You need to charge the finder until the red LED turns off, then you turn the device on outdoors by pressing the on/off button for 4 seconds. If the green LED light is flashing it means that GSM signal is available and if the blue LED light is flashing it means GPS signal is available.

To use your PAJ GPS finder, you also need a subscription to the tracking services. You can do this via desktop or by downloading the PAJ Portal V2 app which is available from the App Store or Google Play Store. Once set up, you can start tracking the things you love!

The subscription options start at just £3.75 per month when paying for two years in advance or up to £5.99 when paying monthly. The tracking will give you a precise, real-time location as your SIM card will always look for the best available network. The live tracking is updated every 30 seconds or sooner if there’s a changes in direction. You are also be able to look at the route’s history for the past 365 days (date, time, location and speed). You can manage all the settings, functions and alarms via the app wherever you are.

Let’s have a closer look at our new tracker. This tracker is no bigger than a smartphone and only weighs 140g. It’s built to be both robust and splash-proof which makes it suitable for a wide variety of uses, including cars, motorcycles, boats, bags, luggage and even people (children too!). It’s got a strong battery that will last about 20 days with an active tracking time of 1 hour per day or up to 40 days in Standby mode which is amazing! You can keep track of the battery level online so that you know if it needs charging.

The PAJ GPS ALLROUND Finder 4G offers you the ability to set different alarms and also has an emergency SOS button:

• Shock Alert or movement alarm: the tracker has a built-in vibration sensor and, if moved, an alarm notification will be sent via email or the app.
• Speed Alert: you can define a maximum speed limit and activate the Speed Alarm to let you know every time your tracker exceeds this speed.
• Geofence Alert: you can set up a safe area, a “geozone”, and if the tracker enters or leaves the predefined area, you will receive a notification.
• SOS Alarm: this important feature will notify the preset recipients immediately if the SOS button is pressed.

At the moment, we don’t need to track our car but I can see the tracker being very useful for that for some people. For us, we will be using the PAJ GPS ALLROUND Finder 4G for a few different uses:

• For hikes. I like hiking and am planning to do a few longer day or overnight hikes in the near future and this tracker will be so handy then to let my family know my exact location. The battery life is so much better than smartphones so it’s a great addition to have to stay safe.
• For travelling. We have had our luggage go missing several times when travelling so we’re looking forward to being able to track our suitcase with our PAJ GPS Finder next time we fly somewhere!
• For school trips. If you place a tracker in your child’s school bag when they go on days out with school, you’ll be able to see where they are and they’ll be able to reach you with the SOS button if needed. This is a great solution to help keep your child safe and yourself reassured in situations like this.
