Getting the Family Involved in Your Engagement Celebrations
|Getting the Family Involved in Your Engagement Celebrations
If you and your partner have children but have only recently decided to get married, one advantage of this is being able to get the entire family involved in your plans and engagement celebrations. If you’re unsure how to do this, you can hire a proposal planner, or here are some engagement ideas and suggestions.
- Choosing a ring
If you want to include your children in everything; from celebrating the engagement to planning the wedding, the first step is to involve them in choosing an engagement ring. Although the final decision will be yours, it can make them feel included if they help you. Chisholm Hunter has plenty of choices. So, after picking out your favourites within your budget, you can ask your children which they prefer, and narrow down your search. With so many to choose from, this can help you at the same time as including them. Whichever engagement ring you choose will be one you’re proud to wear.
- Making the engagement party child friendly
By having a child-friendly engagement party, you can keep the whole family involved in the celebrations. This could include having family-orientated party games, inviting friends and other family members with their children, and ensuring the food is suitable for both adults and children. This doesn’t mean the adults can’t have a drink to celebrate, but this should be in moderation.
- Letting your children be creative
If you’re struggling to find ways of involving your children in the planning, you can ask them to design invitations and decorations for the engagement party, wedding or both. Planning a wedding is hard work and there will be a lot of tasks which you and your partner have to do. But smaller jobs like this can prevent your children from feeling left out. If you want to order invitations online, you could still use their creations to order custom made designs. The designs will be unique and they will feel like they have helped.
You might also ask them for help to bake a cake or other treats, and with making sandwiches and other finger foods for the engagement party. This ensures there will be plenty of food they enjoy at the party.
- Having a small celebration
There’s no reason you can’t have a big engagement party with your friends, but if you do this, having a small family celebration for just yourself, your partner and your children, will give you the chance to mark the occasion as a family.
This could be a meal in a restaurant or your family’s favourite meal cooked at home, a day out at one of the places your family enjoys going, or an activity you’ve always wanted to try. Go Karting, rock climbing, or a short break somewhere you haven’t been before are just a few examples of how you can celebrate by spending quality time together as a family.
Getting engaged is a cause for celebration, however long you and your partner have been together. It marks the next stage of your life together, and if you have children, getting them involved can make the occasion feel even more special.
