I recently reviewed some amazing new sets from K’NEX aimed at younger builders. The KID K’NEX range consists of a bunch of sets perfect for younger builders aged 3 and above. Like Duplo to Lego, KID K’NEX are chunkier and easier to put together and take apart compared to the classic K’NEX sets. KID K’NEX building sets are full of colourful pieces — rods, connectors, blocks and specialist pieces — that are all very easy for little hands to build with.

Lego – we started off with the sets but my youngest is very good at making it up as he goes along, and has made some fab vehicles.

We love playing consquences. You all have a sheet of paper and write the first line and the first word of the next line of a story. You then fold it down so that only the last word shows, then pass the paper on and so on. Older children are paired with younger who can’t write but are still involved. It’s a lot of fun and has kept us busy for hours when outdoor play has been rained off before

Making things with cardboard, tubes and glue
we love playing with lego and anything like that but a quick and easy activity is to take a piece of paper one person draws a head and then folds the paper over it so that the next person can draw the body then they fold it over and pass it back so that the first person can draw legs and fold the paper over and then pass it back and the 2nd person draws the feet. Then you open it up and see what crazy whacky creation you have come up with.

The best creative game I play with my kids is making craft things together. It is so lovely, after it is all finished, that we can see what we have achieved together.
