|How to Accessorise Your Summer Wardrobe | Forever Summer
There is no doubt that summer is here! We’ve already had weeks of hot weather here in the UK and have lots more forecast for the next few weeks. Summer is lovely but dressing for hot weather can be hard as you need to focus on clothes that will keep you comfortable and cool in the heat.
I have been working on a quite a minimalist capsule wardrobe for a while now. This means that most of my clothes are quite simple. For summer, I mainly live in soft cotton dresses in different colours and cuts. Since many of the items that I wear on a daily basis are on the basic side, to allow them to be worn often and be combined with each other, I instead like to focus more on my accessories.
In my opinion, having a more minimalist look when it comes to clothing actually means that you can have more fun with accessories instead as the risk of too much going on or items clashing is hugely reduced.
Summer is here to stay so let’s look at how to accessorise your summer wardrobe…
- Jewellery
Jewellery is an all-year-round staple but precious metals look extra beautiful as they glisten in the sunshine and lay against slightly sun-kissed healthy skin. There are no rules to what to wear when, but I love quite light necklaces for summer to go along the lighter clothes. Gold and silver both look amazing in summer and what works best for you will depend on your complexion. A hint of colour with some beads or gems is a fantastic addition for the summery season too.
Earrings are a great summer accessory and one you can enjoy having extra fun with during summer. If you have long hair, you will probably wear it up a lot while the weather is hot which means you have more space for more elaborate designs, but smaller one look great too. For summer, earrings with summery details like flowers or seashells look really cute.
- Hats
One of my most necessary summer staples is a good sun hat. These days there’s a huge selection of brilliant summer hats to choose from. Sun safety is important to me, so I like a summer hat with a wide brim that offers shade for my face and neck. Anything made from a breathable fabric or straw is a good choice. For a sportier look for outdoorsy activities or sports, Richardson Hats are ideal.
- Shoes & Handbags
When choosing shoes for summer, add some colour to your selection! Whether you like wearing sandals, trainers, Dr. Martens, or something smarter for work, a pop of colour can make all the difference and give your shoes a fresh and summer feel.
When it comes to handbags, choose something colourful too – perhaps something that matches your shoes? Or another classic summer accessory, like a vibrant straw tote or a patterned canvas bag. Adding a pop of colour to your handbag can instantly brighten up your outfit and add a playful touch to your overall look. Whether you choose a bright and eye-catching design or a more subtle and sophisticated shade, Wonderlust London handbags are crafted with meticulous attention to detail and are made to be both stylish and functional. Treat yourself to a colourful handbag and make a statement wherever you go this summer, whether you’re at the beach, on a city break or at a festival.
- Jackets
Last but not least, my favourite accessory – jackets! I love jackets and find them a great way to have fun with my minimalist capsule wardrobe. A denim jacket is a summer classic and so is a lightweight raincoat – you never know when it’s going to rain in the United Kingdom! A fancier coat that you can throw on when it gets cold in the evenings when you’re out is also a summer wardrobe essential.
