Jack Daniels Barbecue Sauces – Vegetarian Three Bean Chilli Recipe
The temperatures have definitely dropped recently and I crave warming meals at this time of year. Together with Jack Daniels Barbecue Sauces, I’ve tried a new three bean chilli recipe which is a great winter warmer full of healthy goodness and a bit of spicy hotness to be even more warming!
There are five Jack Daniels sauces to choose from: Smooth Original, Sweet Smokey, Hot Pepper, Full Flavour Smokey & Extra Hot Habanero plus the delicious Tennessee Honey Barbecue Glaze and for this recipe I combined Full Flavour Smokey (my favourite!) and Extra Hot Habanero to make a smokey but hot chilli.
Vegetarian Three Bean Chilli Recipe
I was inspired by this recipe from the Jack Daniels website but I tweaked it a bit to suit us better and below is my version:
Ingredients:
- 1 can mixed beans, drained
- 1 can of baked beans
- 2 tbsp Jack Daniel’s® Extra Hot Habanero Barbecue Sauce
- 2 tbsp Jack Daniel’s® Extra Hot Habanero Barbecue Sauce
- 1 tbsp tomato ketchup
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 peppers, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- ½ tube of tomato puree
- 1 vegetarian stock cube, dissolved in a little bit of water
- Italian herbs and ground pepper to taste
- Oil for frying
Chop the onions and peppers and fry in a little bit of oil until softened. Add garlic and fry for a few more minutes before adding the rest of the ingredients and cook until combined and warmed through.
Serve this easy peasy healthy chilli with nachos, in wraps or on jacket potatoes. Perfect sides and additions include sour cream, guacamole, grated cheese and jalapenos!
It’s such an easy recipe which is perfect for me as my days are quite stressful and the last thing I want to do at the end of the day is to cook something complicated or something that takes a long time. This only takes a few minutes of prep work and maybe 10 minutes to cook so it’s ideal for me. My husband, my toddler and I love chilli and this is a quicker and easier version of the one I normally make. It’s healthy and can be combined with different sides and toppings to fit different tastes or to turn it into different meals using the chilli as a base.
I also like that I get to use two of my favourite Jack Daniels sauces in the recipe — they add lots of flavour and heat in a second! My husband likes his chilli hotter than I do so he adds more of the Extra Hot Habanero Barbecue Sauce to his plate when we eat. All the Jack Daniels sauce mentioned above can be used in cooking or as dipping sauces as well as glazes. You can find lots of great recipes and ideas here. There are many vegetarian recipes too which I appreciate! This recipe would be great for Bonfire Night, too!
