Jungle Jam Book Review – A Musical Children’s Book

Jungle Jam is a music themed book by Noam and Louise Lederman. It’s written for 0-5 year-olds and helps children learn more about musical genres and instruments from all around the world. It’s educational but also lots of fun at the same time.

The book has 32 pages full of colourful illustrations and a rhyming text. I love rhyming children’s books as they’re always the most fun to read out loud.

The engaging story is about Mikey the Monkey who loves to sing and dreams of becoming a successful jungle star. On his journey in the jungle, he meets Larry the Lion, Ella the Elephant, Ziggy the Zebra and Gina the Giraffe. They all play a musical instrument each that they teach him about and they also invite him to sing with them. He declines and continues his journey in search of fame and success.Jungle Jam Book Review - A Musical Children's Book A Mum Reviews

Then, he hears an amazing sound and finds all the animals playing their instruments together and that teaches him that when people work together, dreams can come true. He decides to sing with the band and they become a jungle success just like Mikey had wanted.

The book is informative and teaches the importance of team work. It’s also very enjoyable to read and fun! My daughter loves the jungle animal theme!

In the back of the book, there are some fun instructions for creating your own musical instruments at home, too.

It’s the first book in a series that will introduce young readers to different music genres and influences as well as various musical instruments from all over the world. The books will include themes that focus on skills and learning that are crucial in both band playing and life  such as working together as a team, listening to and respecting others, setting goals and self-discipline.
