Kijani Baby is a social business based in Uganda that ethically manufactures cloth nappies while empowering Ugandan mums through job creating. Valerie started this business in 2014 after moving to Uganda with her young children and receiving lots of comments on her son’s nappies. She realized that there were no high-quality cloth nappies in Uganda and created the business to help make affordable, reusable nappies available for Ugandan families but also to help the many unemployed women there.
The nappies from Kijani Baby are now available in the UK and international market too and I am currently testing a few different options with my toddler. In this post, we’ll focus on the Pull Up Night Nappy system, but we also have an interesting Hybrid System that I’ll cover in a separate blog post here. Kijani Baby also make a range of other nappies.
Kijani Night Time Pull Ups are available in three sizes, 2-4 years, 4-6 years, and 7-12 years, which is great as this is something that many parents are looking for but are struggling to find as there are not many reusable pull ups in larger sizes available on the market.
The pull ups consist of a waterproof cover and a snap in waterproof soaker. The cover seems really comfortable with its soft, stretchy sides and has plenty of waist settings. It does not have any rise poppers.
The included soaker is made from bamboo and cotton jersey and has soft leg gussets for leak protection. The soaker has PUL on the back which means the pull ups have a double layer of waterproof fabric. The top of the soaker is lined with suedecloth to provide a stay dry layer to keep your child dry and comfortable through the night.
My daughter is 2.5 years old, and we have the size 2-4 years. They’re a tiny bit big on her but still work well and provide a good amount of absorbency. The design looks so comfortable for my daughter who is growing out of some BTP brands. There’s nothing digging in or rubbing on my daughter’s skin with these Kijani Pull Ups which is very important to me.
Everything seems very well made and high quality. We’ve used and washed these quite a few times now and everything still looks great. The inserts wash very well and get more absorbent with washing too. The inserts take quite long to dry but that’s always the case with natural fibers.
Head over to kijanibaby.co.uk to find a stockist near you.
This nappy was kindly provided to us for testing and reviewing purposes. As always, all my reviews are 100% honest and all thoughts and opinions are my own.

hi, writing from Australia! I was just wondering how you are going with the pull ups since the article, I think there is only one place that sells it in Australia so I haven’t been able to find many reviews about it. is it bulky? how long does it take to dry? would you recommend for a very active roll-arounder boy? thank you!
Hello Esther! How old is your little one? I’m enjoying using the pull-ups on my daughter and they fit her perfectly now. She’s always on the move so I think they’re a good fit for active toddlers! They offer good absorbency and are not too bulky. The drying time is on the longer side but in sunny Australia I’m sure this would not be a problem! :)
thank you for your prompt reply. he will turn 4 in may, around 19 kgs atm. we’ve recently been using a disposable since he grew out of his man but I don’t think he will be dropping his night nappy anytime soon so I’m looking for a cloth pull up suitable for his size. would one be suitable for a whole night use?
Hello again! :) I use ours overnight on my girl. She used to be a heavy wetter but is not really anymore overnight. I think it would be fine overnight – you can always add a booster if you need more absorbency. :) Worth a try!
