My girls love playing shop and now they have all the tools they need to do it properly with a Pretend & Play Calculator Cash Register from Learning Resources and a pack of Play Money UK Assortment.

This till is the best toy till we’ve come across! It’s solar powered so will never run out of battery, it’s large and sturdy and will fit lots of play money and it is an actual calculator too.

Another bonus for the kids is that it beeps when you press the buttons and it goes cha-ching when you open the cash drawer. The till also comes with a notepad (to make receipts, for example) and a pretend credit card.

Included with the till is a set of 44 play money pieces (5 each of £50, £20, £10 and £5 notes, 5 each of 2p and 1p pieces, 4 x 5p pieces and two each of £2, £1, 50p, 20p and 10p pieces) but we have the extra set of Play Money UK Assortment too which is good to have when you have several kids playing.

The Play Money UK Assortment pack contains 60 pieces of play money (5 of each of the ones mentioned above).

This till has instantly become a favourite toy in this house! The girls reach for it all the time and spend aged playing with it and the toy money.

Sometimes we go all out and set our playroom up as a supermarket with all our toy foods and a little shopping basket and sometimes they just share the money out and count it.

This toy helps encourage money recognition through imaginative play — something I find important as kids don’t see cash much these days! — and introduces early maths skills. It also helps develop language and social skills through play.

We love the large buttons that are perfect for small hands and the clear display that is easy for kids to read. My eldest daughter is 5 and she enjoys using the calculator for adding things up while my toddler is more into the sound effects! Either way, they’re both having lots of fun and are learning and developing new skills at the same time.

I would highly recommend this Calculator Cash Register from Learning Resources! It would also be very well suited for a classroom environment.
