Minimalist Wardrobe Updates for Autumn – Clothes & Accessories
|Minimalist Wardrobe Updates for Autumn – Clothes & Accessories
Even if you have a well thought out capsule wardrobe, you sometimes need to add some new pieces when the seasons change. Your style might have evolved, there might be some new trends that you want to explore or perhaps some stuff has simply worn out and need replacing with something new. The key is to consider each addition and purchase carefully, to ensure that you are buying something that is of good quality, that is versatile, and that is in a style that you will love and wear for a long time.
With the change in seasons from summer to autumn, it’s time to pack the summery clothes away and work on your wardrobe for the colder parts of the year. I personally love autumn fashion – the colours, the layers, the boots! Let’s have a look at some minimalist wardrobe updates for autumn to consider for your capsule wardrobe.
- Jewellery & Accessories
This is a great category for a capsule wardrobe as you can easily change the look and feel of an outfit with accessories, and they don’t take up much space in your wardrobe. I have added a few pieces of jewellery for this season and this time I’ve focussed on rings. I have a silver daisy chain ring to subtly remind me of summer and these golden healing stone rings with different gemstones. These can be stacked or worn separately, and the colours are beautiful and perfect for autumn.
Carefully selected jewellery is a wonderful way to express your style. Whether you go for minimal designs or statement pieces like antique earrings, jewellery instantly adds interest and personality to your outfit.
Autumn is also a great time for chunkier watches and of course all the accessories needed for the colder weather – hats, scarves, and gloves. I like to play around with colourful options to brighten things up a bit while the weather is getting darker and darker.
- Autumn Clothing Staples
When it comes to clothes, autumn is the season for layers. Some days can still be quite warm, but others are freezing. The way to dress for the fluctuating temperatures is to wear layers so that you can be comfortable at all times. Cardigans and jumpers are perfect for this, and chunky knits are an autumn staple – cosy, functional, and great looking too. Make sure that your capsule wardrobe includes a couple of amazing knits for you to wear with lots of different outfits. A knitted dress is a great addition too and a complete outfit on its own – just add tights.
Next up, an autumn wardrobe is not complete without a decent coat. Choose something waterproof in a style that works with the rest of your clothes. A long trench coat if your style is more classic or something sportier if your look is more casual.
Autumn shoes need to be able to handle cold and wet weather too (and be comfortable for everyday wear) so carefully choose some good quality boots that tick these boxes. If you look after them well, they should last you a few years at least.
With just a few updates to fill any gaps in your wardrobe or to update your style, you’ll be ready to enjoy autumn looking and feeling great. Embrace the autumnal pieces and enjoy the cosiest season of the year!
Collaboration.
