NORA Reusable Period Pads Review – NORA Reusable Period Wear
|NORA Reusable Period Pads Review – NORA Reusable Period Wear
I have been using reusable period pads for over a decade now and love testing new brands and types to compare the available options. A lot has happened in the market over this decade – there are more brands to choose from, different styles and materials and some brands that manage to create really slim yet absorbent pads.
NORA has over 21 years of experience in reusable products and their new pads are brilliant! I have very heavy and long periods so it’s essential that the pads that I use are reliable and comfortable.
I have been testing the NORA pads in their two heaviest absorbencies – Heavy and Maxi – as I generally opt for the most absorbent pads to deal with my heavy flow.
The other sizes/absorbencies available are Moderate, Light and Liner. NORA pads come in a range of stylish designs – Black, White, Latte and Celeste which is the green design that you can see in this blog post.
The NORA Heavy Reusable Pad is 29cm long and equivalent to 7 super tampons or 2 disposable heavy pads. The NORA Maxi Reusable Pad is 31cm long, has two layers of towel core and is equivalent to 8 super tampons or 3 heavy disposable pads.
All the pads are secured with poppers in your underwear. The wings are attached in a way that reduces the risk of any movement which is great. The pads also have an elastic that you can use to secure folded up used pads.
The pads from NORA are amazingly slim – often heavy flow pads are not the slimmest, but these are really slim AND absorbent. The contoured fit is great too and helps provide great coverage.
The top is a stay-dry design with a honeycomb texture and the back is a waterproof, 100% recycled layer.
Another thing that is important to me is how well pads wash. I prefer options that are in colours or materials that don’t easily stain and NORA pads tick these boxes perfectly. I can’t speak for the other designs, but these green ones do not stain.
Some people like to rinse their period pads straight after use and this does limit the risk of stains. I don’t do this myself – I put used pads in a wet bag and then rinse them all in the washing machine before the main wash. I recommend washing reusable period pads every 2-3 days.
NORA pads dry quite quickly too which is another great quality as it means you need fewer pads in your stash. They’re made of polyester materials which absorb quickly and dry quickly.
NORA pads are made to last around 10 years or 150 washes which is wonderful! Women use on average 10 – 15,000 period products in a lifetime and disposable ones usually end up in landfill where they take 500 years to decompose. The manufacturing processes of disposable period products usually includes lots of chemicals too.
I love using reusable period pads – they are much more reliable and much more comfortable than disposables as well as being economical and eco-friendly.
NORA now also make period pants which look amazing! I would love to try the ones for heavy flow to see how they work for me.
Features gifted pads from NORA. As always, all my reviews are 100% honest and all thoughts and opinions are my own.
