Penny The Mirror & Explore the Rainforest from Little Gestalten
It’s time for a children’s library update with a few new books that we have recently added to our children’s book collection for my little bookworms. In this blog post we have a couple of new releases from Little Gestalten. Let’s get started!
Explore the Rainforest | Emma and Louis in the Jungle
Explore the Rainforest is a new book by award-winning author Anne Ameri-Siemens and illustrator Anton Hallmann. In this exciting book, we go on an educational adventure in the rainforest, learning all about this fascinating habitat. We follow along the protagonists Emma and Louis as they discover lots of interesting facts about the natural environment of rainforests.
We learn what a rainforest is and what kind of animals and plants that can be found there. We explore why the rainforest is so important for our planet’s climate and what life in the rainforest looks like for the people who live there.
It’s a beautiful and important non-fiction book for children to learn about lots of different aspects of the rainforest. I love reading this with my children and they love it too. The book is full of brightly coloured and informative illustrations to help explain the exciting facts.
Penny The Mirror by Dave Bell and illustrated by Martin Nicolausson is a really unique book! In this interesting book we meet Penny who is a mirror! We learn all about her ancestors and we follow along as Penny decides to take things into her own hands after being sick of mirrors nearly only being told bad things and never feeling like they’re doing a good job!
People nearly always say bad things to themselves in the mirror, but it turns out mirrors have feelings too and they take these things personally. This is the story of Penny’s life-changing journey to acceptance, and it empowers readers to celebrate themselves too.
What a wonderful and rare book this is – truly special! The illustrations are very quirky too and make me think of surrealism.
