I’m always looking for ways for our family to reduce our waste. One area that I was keen to change, but struggling to find a solution I was happy with, was our hand soap situation. We have a range of different soap bars and shampoo bars that we use in the bath and the shower but for handwashing we prefer liquid or foaming soap, especially in the kitchen and for the kids.

Back to the hand soap from Raindrop! We have the Plastic-Free Foaming Hand Soap Starter Pack which contains everything you need to make the switch to plastic-free hand wash:

• 2 x amber glass foaming hand soap dispensers (300ml)
• 6 x plastic free refill drops

The plastic free refill drops are available in two different scents – Aloe and Lavender and Coconut & Vanilla – and you get three of each in the starter pack. Both scents smell lovely but I think I slightly prefer the Coconut & Vanilla.

Once you have your starter kit with your beautiful soap dispensers, you can set up a subscription to have the refills delivered to your house as often as you need them. You can buy them as and when you need them too but you do get a nice discount when you subscribe and you’re less likely to forget and run out.

If you already have some foaming handwash dispensers at home, you can use them too or instead. The Raindrop refills will work with any foaming soap dispenser. I really love the design of the Raindrop ones with the gorgeous frosted glass, the chunky pump and the non-slip silicone base that keeps the soap steady on the sink. Yes, even when little kids are using the soap! My girls all love our new foaming soap, by the way!

To make your soap, you simply take a refill drop and pop it into one of your dispensers, fill it with warm water, put the pump on and wait 15 minutes for the drop to dissolve. Then your new plastic-free handwash is ready to use.

The result is a stylish soap dispenser filled with beautifully handwash that foams nicely and cleans your hands well. Without any plastic pollution whatsoever!
