The Body Shop’s Oils Of Life Skincare Products Review

The Body Shop have just released a new facial skincare range called Oils of Life. The products are all about discovering the power of oils. They contain three precious seed oils that help revitalise and nourish skin. The oils used are black cumin seed oil, rosehip seed oil and camellia seed oil, known for their impressive revitalising and repairing properties.

Oils sometimes have a bad reputation and there are lots of myths about skincare and oils. When you think about what oils are, it’s quite natural that they are so beneficial to the skin. Many oils come from seeds which give life to new plants and are one of the most concentrated sources of essential nutrients on Earth. The Body Shop’s Oils Of Life Skincare Products Review A Mum Reviews
Good quality, pure oils will not make your skin greasy and oily and will leave your skin looking healthy and with a nice glow. Many oils now are really light and absorbs quickly and easily. They will provide antioxidants, nutrients and essential fatty acids that help protect your skin against the elements and repair it too. Oils complement moisturisers and they work together and keep your skin hydrated for longer.

For many years we’ve seen oil-free creams and facial washes that strip the skin of natural oils, especially in skincare for blemish prone skin like my own. I realised a couple of years back, that that’s not the way to go and that hydrating products and natural oils really help the quality of my skin and actually reduce breakouts and promote healing of acne scars. Using an oil on oily skin helps reduce the oiliness of the skin. The saying “Like dissolves like” is true when it comes to oils and skincare. Some oils have anti-bacterial, anti-microbial and anti-fungal properties which make them even better for breakout prone skin. The Body Shop’s Oils Of Life Skincare Products Review A Mum Reviews

The Oils of Life range contains five products:

  • Intensely Revitalising Bi-Phase Essence Lotion
  • Intensely Revitalising Facial Oil
  • Intensely Revitalising Gel Cream
  • Intensely Revitalising Cream
  • Twin-Ball Facial Massager

I’m trying out the first three products and have been for a couple of weeks now. We’ve been getting on really well! The Body Shop’s Oils Of Life Skincare Products Review A Mum Reviews

The Oils of Life Intensely Revitalising Bi-Phase Essence Lotion (£15/150ml) is the first step in this three-step oil skincare routine.

After using your favourite cleanser to cleanse your skin, you use this product which provides instant visible results and prepares and activates your skin for the next step. Bi-phase means that it’s an oil and water formula. After using it, skin feels soft, replenished and very clean. It’s really lightweight and non-greasy and a pleasure to use.

I use make-up pads (disposable or reusable) and apply the product onto them and swipe all over my face. I’ve never used anything like it and now I can’t imagine not using it. It’s so refreshing yet deeply nourishing at the same time. The Body Shop’s Oils Of Life Skincare Products Review A Mum Reviews

The next step is the Oils of Life Intensely Revitalising Facial Oil (£28/30ml) which is made from 99% natural origin oils.

The cold-pressed oils full of nutrients are quickly absorbed by the skin, leaving it plump and hydrated. It’s a lightweight, non-sticky formula that makes a lovely pampering step in my new facial skincare routine. It helps fight signs of ageing and makes skin feel revitalised, more elastic and firmer. The oil helps lock moisture and nutrients in and works together with the moisturiser that you use after this step. The Body Shop’s Oils Of Life Skincare Products Review A Mum Reviews

There are two moisturisers to choose from in the Oils of Life range a cream formula and a gel cream formula. I’m using the latter. The Intensely Revitalising Gel Cream (£25/50 ml) is a dewy-fresh gel cream with illuminating micro-pearls and a lighter alternative to the cream formula.

It’s perfect for all ages and instantly hydrates skin and makes it more supple. It melts into the skin and massages in quickly, leaving a light and fresh but deeply pampered! finish without any greasiness.

The hydration is very long-lasting and my skin instantly looks more radiant and healthy.

This range of products is so incredibly luxurious! When I’m using them, I feel like my skin is receiving a luxury spa treatment. The products are really nourishing and pampering and using them is truly enjoyable. I’ve started to make a bit of time for this new skincare routine of mine and was inspired by this video of Vanda Serrador (Facialist and Body Care Expert for The Body Shop) showing how to use the products.

Taking a bit of extra time applying the products and massaging them in makes such a different to your skin but also makes you feel relaxed. The Twin-Ball Facial Massager looks brilliant, too!

The intense, gorgeous and natural scent and the beautiful packaging also add to the luxurious spa feeling. The scent is amazing and enhances the pampering experience. It’s rich, pleasant and very relaxing.

The packaging is minimalist but also really makes a statement with its golden/copper bottles and jars, black chunky caps/lids and golden labels. The bi-phase lotion is in a plastic bottle to make it easy to squeeze and the other two products are packaged in thick glass. The facial oil bottle is two-toned and even the pipette is of really great quality. The bottles/jars come in nice, crispy white paper boxes.

Everything about the range expresses luxurious pampering and me-time. I really enjoy using all of them and will definitely continue to do so. If I had to pick a favourite of the products that I’ve tried, I think I’d choose the bi-phase lotion because it’s so unique and different and really makes my skin feel good.

The products will be great in the colder months when my skin always feel dry and needs more nourishment. They would also make a wonderful gift for a friend, sister, daughter or mum or yourself! Visit The Body Shop to see the full range and to buy the products.

I was sent these products for this review. As always, all my reviews are 100% honest and all thoughts and opinions are my own.
