X MUSE Scottish Barley Vodka Review
|X MUSE Scottish Barley Vodka Review | AD
Let’s get into the festive spirits! In the run up to Christmas, my husband and I like to start building a festive bar to enjoy over the Christmas holidays. We usually opt for a few old favourites and then add a few new additions that we’ve never tried before.
In this blog post, I’ll share a new find – but we’re not saving this bottle for Christmas! Meet X MUSE (pronounced “tenth muse”) which is the first blended barley vodka inspired by the spirit making traditions of Scotland. X MUSE draws on history and experience and uses both craft, artisanal processes, and new, cutting-edge methods to turn this blend of heritage barley and the purest water into a superb vodka with rich flavours and deep character.
The barley used is a mix of two heritage prized varieties, Plumage Archer and Marris Otter, and the water is drawn from the ancient aquifer at the heart of Jupiter Artland. A truly Scottish sprit! X MUSE Scottish Barley Vodka is of course distilled in bottled in Scotland too.
I love how it’s clearly full of history but also such a modern product too with the fresh techniques and the stylish, minimalist design of the bottle.
The flavours include fragrant, juicy apples and pears – both freshness like freshly pressed juice and richer flavours like baked fruit and cider. It’s got a sweetness to it while also being slightly dry and spicy. It’s very smooth and has well-balanced flavours.
It’s an interesting spirit that tastes great in vodka cocktails! If you’re a connoisseur, you might want to drink it on its own or over ice. I prefer mine as a simple Vodka Tonic or a Moscow Mule – simple drinks that still let the flavour of the spirit shine. There are lots of fun cocktail ideas available on the X MUSE website to explore for new recipes.
X MUSE Scottish Barley Vodka is available to buy here for £55 for a 70cl bottle. There are also gift boxed options and a wonderful selection of stunning glassware.
This bottle was kindly gifted to me for this review. As always, all my reviews are 100% honest and all thoughts and opinions are my own.
