Bloom & Nora Reusable Sanitary Pads Review
|Bloom & Nora Reusable Sanitary Pads Review – “Fine Period Wear”
Using reusable pads is something I started doing quite a few years ago now and once you swap, you don’t go back. After wearing soft and comfortable cloth pads, wearing a plastic disposable one is unbearable.
I love discovering the UK market of reusable pads and checking out new brands and one of the new ones that launched recently is Bloom & Nora by the same people who brought us TotsBots cloth nappies (review here).
Bloom & Nora was inspired by early American feminist Amelia Bloomer, a fierce advocate for safer and more practical styles of women’s undergarments and the brand invites you to have a cycle with style and no toxic substances. Their pads are soft, comfortable and very absorbent and perform better than disposables. They look great too and are made in the UK.
The range consists of four sizes (mini, midi, maxi and mighty) and are available in either Bloom or Nora fabrics.
The Bloom pads have a natural, super absorbent bamboo core and are bright and vibrant. The edges, the stay dry barrier binding and the waterproof underside help prevent leaks. The pads have a contoured slim fit and popper tabs to keep them in place.
The Nora pads have a stay dry interior and the same slim fit, stay dry binding and edges to stop leaks. They also have a waterproof layer and a stay dry interior. The Nora pads are a stain-repellent white and have floral prints on the back.
Both types of pads are available in mini, midi, maxi and mighty sizes. The short Mini pads are ideal for light flow days, the medium length Midi for normal flow, the long Maxi pads for heavy flow and the extra long Mighty pads for very heavy flow and overnight wear.
Bloom & Nora pads are very comfortable to wear and stay in place well. They are Oekotex certified to guarantee that they do not contain any nasty chemicals. They are designed and produced to perform well and last. The pads are more absorbent than disposable ones, much more comfortable and a lot cheaper too, costing on average of 3p per use compared to 12p per single use disposable pad. The high quality means you can you them 150 times over 5-7 years.
Reusable pads are also better for the environment as they don’t produce waste and safer for you as they don’t contain chemicals. Bloom & Nora Reusable Sanitary Pads are really easy to care for: you can rinse them if you wish or just pop them in the washing machine at 40 degrees. Remember to not use fabric conditioner as this can impact the absorbency of the pads. Line dry and you’re done. Easy!
A waterproof wash bag is a great addition and perfect if you’re using pads when you’re out and about. This one from Bloom & Nora has two compartments.
I love both the Bloom types and the Nora types! I love the bright and fun colours of Bloom and the amazing stain-repellent fabric of the Nora ones. They really stay white for a long time which is amazing! (Update: after about 3 years of use, I experiences some staining on some of my Nora pads)
I was sent these pads for this review. As always, all my reviews are 100% honest and all thoughts and opinions are my own.
Hello, i read your blog occasionally and i own a similar one and i was just wondering if you get a lot of spam feedback?
If so how do you reduce it, any plugin or anything
you can recommend? I get so much lately it’s driving me insane so
any assistance is very much appreciated.
Hi! Yes, I get spam comments too but I just don’t approve them. I manually approve all comments so that no spam gets through and remove links if I’m not sure.
