Etta Loves Right Beside Me Story Book Review
|Etta Loves Right Beside Me Story Book Review
Etta Loves is a sensory baby brand that makes beautiful and stylish baby products like play mats, muslins and more. Last month, their first book was released too and it is such a sweet little book for young readers.
The story book is called Right Beside Me, written by BBC Journalist Helen Drew and illustrated by Dan Jamieson, and is a tale of a baby discovering how incredible their parents are which is a nice angle for a baby book. This is Helen’s first book and she’s a mum of two herself.
Reading to our children — often and from a young age — is so important. You can even start while they are still in your belly! It’s so important for their speech, language and communication development and also teaches listening and attention skills, new vocabulary and social development. It is a great way to bond with your little ones too, of course.
Right Beside Me draws on these scientifically proven benefits of reading to your baby from a young age and is such a lovely book. From the baby’s point of view, the parent is compared to different animals and I’m sure most parents will get a bit emotional reading this to their little ones as the words and comparisons are so true to how we feel as parents.
Young babies will not understand the story for a while but hearing their parent’s voice reading to them will always be comforting and research shows that children who are read to and talked to a lot will have a bigger vocabulary.
The book is beautifully illustrated and designed and even has a colour journey incorporated in the same way that a baby progresses to see the colour spectrum which is absolutely brilliant.
This wonderful story book has quickly become a favourite in our house!
Right Beside Me costs just £5.99 in a chunky board book format and is available from ettaloves.com.
