Getting Ready for a Night Out with Beautify – My Routine
|Getting Ready for a Night Out with Beautify – My Routine
Nights out don’t happen very often for my husband and I with two young children and another one arriving very soon (probably this week!) but we do try to get out every once in a while even if it’s just a meal out at a restaurant. When we do get a chance to go out, we like to make the most of it and put a little effort into the whole process and the time spent getting ready is almost as important as going out itself.
My husband likes to listen to some music and maybe have a beer and I like to take some time to pamper myself and get ready in a nice and slow pace rather than the usual everyday routine which is throwing some clothes on and getting out the door. When we have a night out to look forward to, I like to have a nice bath first with a glass of bubbly or wine (when I’m not pregnant), then I lock myself away and treasure the time available to get dressed and ready in a relaxed manner.
Most days, my beauty routine is very simple and minimalist and even for a night out it still is but I definitely use more products for special occasions — mainly because I really enjoy beauty and skincare products and actually having the time to use them.
After washing my face while having a bath, I need to moisturise my skin afterwards and love using a thin layer of Weleda SkinFood for this as it provides great hydration and a bit of a glow too. After that’s absorbed properly, I use Clinique City Block or Super City Block which is one of my most bought products of all time. I would never be without this in my beauty case. It’s a great product that provides protection from the sun and gives you very sheer coverage — it evens out your skin tone in a very natural way and gives your skin a healthy sheen. I love it and have been using it for many, many years.
I don’t often wear make-up but for a night out, I’ll apply some mascara and sometimes a bit of eyeliner that I smudge for a natural look. For lips and cheeks, I love to use a tiny bit of Weleda Tinted Lip Balm in either Berry Red or Rose. It works well as a blush and for a bit of sheen and colour to your lips.
My hair care is simple too — I have naturally curly hair so it’s best left alone. After washing it, I brush it with a Tangle Teezer and then leave it to air dry and this gives my curls the best chance to develop naturally and look their best.
I’ve got some new beauty items from Beautify which are very useful for my beauty routine — this amazing Large Blush Pink Makeup Case that can hold so many products and is great at keeping them tidy and neat and the Illuminating Makeup Mirror below that has a handy storage tray and can be used with or without lights (plugged in via USB or with batteries). It’s got dimmable lights so that you can adjust it to your needs and there’s a 10x magnifying extra mirror that can be attached to the front or rear of the mirror or can be completely removed for handheld use.
I love the storage tray at the bottom for your most used products and the fact that I can move it around to where the natural light is at its best or use the built-in lights for when it’s dark.
How has your beauty routine changed since having kids and do you have any beauty/skincare products that you swear by and keep repurchasing over and over? Let me know in the comments below.

ooh – I’m going to give that Clinique City Block a try. I never seem to be able to find the right foundation! But if it’s so popular, it must be good….. Nice post, really helped make me think of fun nights out :-)
It’s a brilliant product! I like to stock up when they have the offer of a free toiletries bag with mini products when you buy two skincare products. :) x
That case is beautiful! My makeup routine has reduced significantly since having kids, I usually do it in five minutes now!
You quickly learn how to be efficient when you’re a parent! :) x
I do love a good illuminating mirror – especially for brows.
They’re very handy! :) x
I would say my beauty routine has definitely changed since having kids but I’d like to claim a bit of it back it’s important to have something for you xx
It’s so important to take a little me-time! x
My beauty routine has gone out the window since my youngest has come along. If I’m going out, I’ll give my husband notice to be on duty and I’ll be able to get ready in peace!
Sounds perfect! :) x
There is nothing nicer than getting ready for a night out, it’s quite rare for us now but when when we do go out I love taking my time and having a bit of pamper x
It makes it even more special, doesn’t it? :) x
