Can ice cream be healthy? Or even better  can ice cream be healthy AND delicious? Looks like the answer is yes!

Oppo ice cream is a healthy ice cream made from fresh milk, virgin coconut oil and stevia leaf for sweetness. Thanks to this combination, it doesn’t need to be filled with lots of sugar and calories. It’s actually only around 43 calories per scoop which is quite amazing. Compared to other ice cream brands, it contains many fewer calories, a lot less sugar and a lot less fat too.

EU Authorised Health Claim: “Consumption of foods/drinks containing erythritol and steviol glycosides instead of sugar induces a lower blood glucose rise after their consumption compared to sugar-containing foods/drinks.”

There are currently four different flavours to choose from: Salted Caramel, Madagascan Vanilla, Mint Choc Swirl and Colombian Chocolate with Hazelnut.Oppo Ice Cream Review | Healthy & Delicious Ice Cream - Is It Possible? A Mum Reviews

My daughters and I have sampled the Colombian Chocolate with Hazelnut flavour and we’re very happy with it. It’s delicious and reminds me of Ferrero Rocher but is not quite as sweet. It’s still sweet enough and definitely satisfying when you have a chocolatey craving.

“The hero in this flavour is Colombian Cacao Fino de Aroma. Distinguished by its fruity and flowery aroma, rich flavour, and nutty undertones. We source our Cacao Fino de Aroma directly from the plantations of Colombia making it one of the highest quality cacao certifications in the world. Our cacao really is the cream of the crop.” Oppo

I like that these ice creams are still made with milk and some cream even though they are marketed as healthy. These ingredients can still be part of a healthy diet and, in my opinion, you need a bit of dairy to achieve the right texture and creaminess in an ice cream.

I’m definitely going to try the other flavours too. I think Mint Choc Swirl is next! When I got our tub of Colombian Chocolate with Hazelnut from Asda, it was the only flavour available but a week or so later, I spotted the rest of the range too.

Oppo ice creams are available from the supermarkets below and come in 500ml tubs.
