Summer Infant Grow with Me Bed Rail Review + Instruction Video
|Summer Infant Grow with Me Bed Rail Review + Instruction Video
We currently have a single bed in our guest bedroom. That bed is used for guests but is also meant to become my nearly three-year-old’s first “big girl bed”. She currently sleeps in a cot that has had the side taken off to create a toddler bed. She moves around a lot in her sleep. Because of this, we have a rolled up blanket on the edge to keep her from falling out at night. It still happens sometimes though! For this reason, I wanted to install something on the big bed to keep her from rolling out.
The single bed that we have for her is much taller than her cot bed. It’s also a bit taller than a standard single bed . This is because it has a storage cupboard underneath to one side and room for large boxes on the other. Because the sleeping space is so much higher up, I worry about her falling out. She could hurt herself if she were to roll or fall out of bed at night. I’ve been looking for a bed rail to use on this bed to keep her safe at night and stop me from worrying as we take the big step that is moving her into a proper bed.
Summer Infant Grow with Me Bed Rail Review
The bed rail that we have is this one from Summer Infant. I like that it folds down to easily and quickly get it out of the way. This is great if you want to sit on the side of the bed to read a bedtime story. Or for when we have grown up guests staying in that bed who don’t need a bed rail! You don’t need to take it out or pack it away — you just fold it down in a second. It’s also very handy for when you need to change the bedding.
Summer Bed Guard Instructions
The Summer Infant Grow with Me Bed Rail comes flat packed in a box and at first it might look a bit daunting because there are quite a lot of pieces to fit together to build it. There’s no need to worry though, as each piece is labelled very clearly and, of course, the bed rail comes with printed instructions.
An even easier way to be guided, is to watch the instruction video above as you build your bed rail and just follow each step at the same time as the person in the video. It only takes a couple of minutes to build and watching someone else do it first or at the same time is so helpful.
Once you have assembled the bed rail, it’s very easy to install on the bed too. You simply lift up your mattress and adjust the bed rail width to fit the size of your bed. It fits mattresses between 70cm and 90cm which is cot bed size to single bed size. Then you put your mattress back down and it holds the bed rail in place as in the picture above.
Our Experience Using the Summer Infant Grow with Me Bed Rail
The Summer Infant Grow with Me Bed Rail is such a clever product that makes me feel at ease as my daughter seems really content in it. My family also enjoys its easy-to-use design which we appreciate because not only do they give her stability when she’s crawling or standing up but also adds support while sleeping on them too
As you can see, it barely takes up any room at all whether it’s up or down. To fold it down, your press the large buttons on both sides and simply fold it down until it clicks into place. You do the same but in the other direction to fold it back up.
We keep Grow with Me Bed Rail folded up as there’s still plenty of room on the side to sit on and to get into the bed. We also have a shelf next to the bed that we like to keep there.
Where to Buy & Other Options
If your bed is not by a wall, you can get a double bed rail that has a mesh panel on both sides. The bed rail is also available in White, Pink and Blue but I think the Grey one looks really nice!
Buy yours from Amazon.co.uk or other baby and toddler equipment retailers.

Your pic is showing the white “wings” at the far side of the bed yet in the video it shows them close to the fold down piece so not sure where to position them now.
Hi Susie, I’m not sure which part you are referring to. Do you mean the hook like things that hold the product in place around the mattress? I think both sides were shaped similarly. This was a few years ago now and we no longer have the product as my children got different beds. x
