Summer Infant My Size Potty Review / Potty Training
A few weeks ago we began the important parenting task that is potty training. Our girl is 2,5 years old now and showing signs that she might soon be ready to stop wearing nappies. She’s nearly there and lets us know when she’s doing a wee and when she’s pooed but not before it happens yet.
The most important bit of kit you need when potty training is of course a potty and they come in lots of different styles. The coolest one I’ve come across is the one below — the Summer Infant My Size Potty.
We have this one and it’s amazing! It looks so much like a proper toilet — just in miniature. I’ve always been fond of miniature replicas and remember the mini toilets we had at nursery when I was little and the way they made you feel a bit more grown up and independent.
The My Size Potty replicates the look and feel of a real adult toilet (without the need for any plumbing!) to help ensure a comfortable and confident transition from nappies to using the big toilet.
There’s a flip-up seat just like on a real toilet and underneath it, there’s a removable, easy-clean bowl. The flip-up seat is useful if you want to teach boys to wee standing up but there’s also a removable splash guard that you can use for boys who sit down for their wees.
This miniature toilet even has a flush handle that makes a realistic flushing sound and giggle sound as a reward and encouragement for your child after he or she has used the potty.
There’s a built-in wipe compartment to promote healthy hygiene habits and you can use this for toddler toilet wipes or hand wipes, for example. The actual cistern opens up to reveal a good storage compartment, ideal for nappies, training pants, pants or reading material!
The My Size Potty is suitable for children from 18 months until they reach a weight of 23 kg/50 pounds.
My daughter was excited to sit on this potty as soon as I got it out of its box! It requires a few minutes of assembling as you need to attach the cistern to the base and install the flush. This is all very easy and you can soon start using it.
The potty is really the perfect size for potty training toddlers and a great way to get them interested in using the toilet — their very own toilet.
We keep ours in the living room as that’s where we spend the most time playing. Our bathroom is very small so we can’t have a potty in there. The My Size Potty is so cute that we really don’t mind having it on display. Everybody who’s seen it when visiting loves it too!
We all love this potty and it’s really helped encourage my toddler to be interested in going to the toilet instead of using a nappy. The only thing I would change is that I would add a lid to the seat to make it even more like a real toilet. Other than that it’s the perfect potty!
