The Ideal Christmas Present for Kids Aged 5+ from Skates.co.uk

My eldest daughter is nearly five years old and we haven’t got into the habit of the kids asking for things for Christmas and birthdays (yet!). Usually, my husband and I will simply choose some presents that we think the kids will enjoy and that will suit their current age. Because of this, our eldest daughter rarely asks for things for birthdays or Christmas but this year she has mentioned one particular thing quite a lot and expressed how she wishes she had one…

I’m talking about a scooter! She often sees kids on the school run and in the park with their scooters and says how she wishes she had one too. I’m the first to admit that I can be a bit overprotective with my children but I think that now that she’s nearly five years old, she’s old enough to ride a scooter safely so soon she’ll receive the present she’s been longing for her very own scooter! The Ideal Christmas Present for Kids Aged 5+ from Skates.co.uk A Mum Reviews

As per a personal recommendations from Skates.co.uk, we went for the JD Bug Original Street MS130B Foldable Scooter (£48.95 Skates.co.uk will price match any retailer) for a child of my daughter’s age. It’s got an extendable handle so will grow with her as she gets taller which is great.

We went for the Matt Purple design as we love the matt finish and I think she’ll quite like this colour. She’s not overly girly in her taste her favourite colour is yellow but we also thought that this particular colour is a bit more rare so will make her scooter stand out and not be as easy to lose!

The JD Bug Original Street MS130B Foldable Scooter is considered the safest, most lightweight and most popular kids’ foldable scooter in the UK which is amazing!

It’s got an extra safe folding mechanism and comes with carry strap for easy transport. This scooter has had worldwide success since 2000 and in 2014 it was released in six new colours as well as the orginial matt aluminium finish. The other colours available are Matt Silver, Matt Black, Sky Blue, Red Glow Pearl, Pastel Pink and Reflex Blue. The Ideal Christmas Present for Kids Aged 5+ from Skates.co.uk A Mum Reviews

I love how lightweight the scooter is and how it folds down really easily and quickly with a single lever folding mechanism. Scooters are often used for school runs and trips to the park and at some point during those trips, the parent usually ends up carrying the scooter so the carry strap will come in handy! You can even hang it on your pushchair if you have a younger child with you too like we will.

The folded up scooter is really compact and neat even the handles fold down and are held in place when the scooter is not in use.

The handle bar height is really easy to adjust too and the handles have soft foam grips for a comfortable grip.

The footplate has a large grip tape for a secure, firm footing for extra safety. As it’s large, adults’ feet will easily fit which means the scooter can be used by anyone, up to the weight of 100kg.The Ideal Christmas Present for Kids Aged 5+ from Skates.co.uk A Mum Reviews

We’re so excited to present this to our daughter as we’re 100% sure that she’ll love it so much! We also have an almost matching helmet (Harsh Skate Helmet Pro EPS – Matte Purple, £28.95) ready for her to keep her extra protected and to reassure her overprotecting mother… I do think a helmet is a great idea for scooting, especially when you’re just starting out. I’m sure my daughter will be excited to wear hers too, especially as it’s colour coordinated with the scooter. She’s going to have so much fun!The Ideal Christmas Present for Kids Aged 5+ from Skates.co.uk A Mum Reviews

This scooter would make an awesome gift for any kids aged around 5 years and above! It’s a high-quality and safe scooter with lots of great features that any child would be excited to have. The U.K. weather is ideal for scooting as well as the winters are never very bad (I’m Swedish so I know what proper snow is!) so you can usually use a scooter all year round which is perfect.

Collaborative Post. We were gifted this scooter and helmet from Skates.co.uk. As always, all thoughts and opinions are my own.
