Treat Your Dad to Some Wonderful Barolo Wines This Father’s Day
|Treat Your Dad to Some Wonderful Barolo Wines This Father’s Day
Are you looking for some gift ideas for Father’s Day? I recently published my Father’s Day gift guide for this year which you can read here but that did not include any wine gifts. If you have a father who loves wine, then naturally some great wines make a great gift for any occasion.
How about treating a wine-loving dad to the opportunity to enjoy and compare some amazing Barolo wines from the same winemaker and the same DOCG but that are different and have their own unique characters due to where the grapes were grown? Sounds great, doesn’t it?
The wines we are going to look at in this article are all available from Independent Wine and are all Barolos from vineyards own by the Broccardo family. The family has four vineyards spread across three “comunes” – two in Monforte d’Alba, one in Barolo, and one in Novello.
Filippo Broccardo produces all his wonderful Barolo wines in the same style, using large, old oak barrels for the ageing process but the differences of the terroir come through in the finished wines which is really interesting to experience. There’s no other variable as everything except for the terroir is the same, making these wines perfect for a fascinating and remarkable wine tasting session.
The four Barolos are the following:
- Broccardo Barolo San Giovanni DOCG 2017 | A dark and powerful wine from Monforte d’Alba with mouth-drying tannins, smokiness and flavours of dark berries and espresso.
- Broccardo Barolo Bricco San Pietro DOCG 2017 | A Barolo with very powerful tannins and aromas of violet, black tea, juniper berries and sandalwood. This wine is from the Bricco San Pietro cru in Monforte.
- Broccardo Barolo Ravera DOCG 2017 | An interesting Barolo from the Ravera cru with flavours of rose, red cherry, mint, dried cranberries and with notes of indulgent chocolate cherry liqueurs and strong espresso.
- Broccardo Barolo Paiagallo DOCG 2017 | A fresh and exciting wine from a stony hill overlooking Castle of Barolo in the Barolo village area. This wine has flavours of wild strawberry and mint, balanced with savoury flavours of liquorice and balsamic vinegar.
All of the above wonderful Barolo wins are award-winning and available to buy from Independent Wine with free next day UK mainland delivery and free wine gift wrapping too. Treat your dad to a special Barolo experience this Father’s Day!
Collaboration.
