Creative Gender Reveal Party Ideas

Over the past few years, gender reveal parties have really taken off in the United States but interestingly, these celebrations have become an increasingly popular idea for parents to be in the UK too!

A gender reveal party, if you do not already know, is a baby shower type event where the gender of the baby is revealed to the guests and parents – just as the name would suggest. Usually, the reveal is done in a particularly artistic or memorable way and most often it is done using the traditional gendered colours of pink and blue. However, this is the perfect opportunity to go against the norm and get creative with your party. Here are a few suggestions on how you can make your gender reveal party more exciting, more personal, and more fun.

  • Fireworks

Gender reveal fireworks are the best way to make a huge statement and reveal your baby’s gender in a way that is going to stick in people’s minds. Not only are you letting your guests know the big news, but your entire neighbourhood will be in the loop when you fire off those pink or blue fireworks! If you are looking for something extravagant and exciting, then fireworks are definitely the way to go.

  • Pop culture theme

Rather than going with the traditional colours, try adopting a pop culture reference for your gender reveal party. This is particularly special because you can choose something special for yourself or a common interest between you and your partner. You could have a witch or wizard themed Harry Potter party, a Luke or a Leia themed Star Wars celebration and any true ‘Friends’ fan will understand the “Phoebe or Phoebo” banner at your party. Pick something that the two of you are passionate about and find a way to make it gender reveal!

  • Seasonal

If your gender reveal party or expected due date falls near a holiday, then take advantage of this and incorporate it into your celebrations. Plan a beautiful Christmas themed party with red for a girl and green for a boy. Use flowers and nature for any gender reveal that takes place in the spring. Utilise pumpkins in creative ways during October or use Easter time as the perfect opportunity to use decorated eggs in your gender reveal.

  • Animal Themes

Not just any animal will work with this theme (but you can give it a go!) A popular choice is the classic Buck or Doe theme but there are plenty of other options that would work great such as Lion or Lioness, Jack or Jill, Peacock or Peahen, Ram or Ewe, Tiger or Tigress – whatever works best with your own personality and whatever you can have some fun with. Do your research and you may find some pretty adorable animal gender names that you did not know before. For example, did you know a male cat is called a Tom and a female cat is called a Queen? Another benefit of this theme is that you can incorporate your own pets into the reveal.
