Potty Training with Peppa Pig – The Toilet Training Continues

Earlier this year, we successfully potty trained our eldest daughter shortly after she turned three. Before we did it, I used to think of potty training as a short phase a week or two maybe and then you’d be done and wouldn’t need a potty and all the gear. I was wrong, of course!

Potty training is not just the actual phase when you introduce a potty it’s so much more. We still use potties every day even though my daughter can use the toilet.

We only have a toilet upstairs in our house so a potty downstairs is essential so that my daughter can go whenever she needs to. It’s not always practical to run upstairs with another child to look after. It’s also good to have in case your mid-cooking or something or if we’re playing in the garden and she just wants to run in for a quick wee. The Peppa Pig potty is well rounded for comfort and has a tall backrest for support and non-slip feet.Potty Training with Peppa Pig – The Toilet Training Continues A Mum Reviews

Another part of potty training is working on being dry overnight. I think we’re nearly there, but we’re not quite confident to go without our “night time pants” yet  just in case. We use the Peppa Pig Little Angels pull-ups from Asda which happen to go very well with our new Peppa Pig potty training bundle. We try to remember to put the potty in my daughter’s room at night so that she can take herself for a wee in the morning if we’re asleep. She usually comes into our bed and wakes us up way before that though!Potty Training with Peppa Pig – The Toilet Training Continues A Mum Reviews

After successfully potty training, it’s time to toilet train. A toilet training seat and a step stool are great tools for this part of potty training as it gives children the independence to go to the toilet on their own if they want to. I used to sit my daughter on the toilet and have her hold onto my legs when she needed to go but now she’s got her very own Peppa Pig toilet seat that she loves and that ensures she doesn’t fall into the toilet. The matching step stool makes it easy for her to get up and down and is ideal for hand washing too. The non-slip feet and grippers on the top are perfect for the bathroom environment. We also use it in her bedroom to help her get in and out of her bed that is quite tall.Potty Training with Peppa Pig – The Toilet Training Continues A Mum Reviews

Our bundle also included Hand & Body wipes that are handy to keep in your bag to clean hands or bottoms when out and about. The cute little Peppa Pig packets are a huge hit with my kids!Potty Training with Peppa Pig – The Toilet Training Continues A Mum Reviews

Finally, the bundle included a book called Peppa and her Golden Boots which is one of my eldest’s favourite books. We borrowed it from the library last year and kept having to borrow it again and again and now she has her own copy of this fun and glittery book.
